“I really can't fault the lodge itself and its view of the lake is lovely.”
The decking area is very spacious and the lodge is in a fairly private spot, which was lucky as my toddler decided to run around the secure decking area naked one afternoon, having the time of her life. Apologies to the cleaners, who may have had a few small hand prints to clean off the windows!
The hot tub was great, definitely the highlight. Good number of chairs. The beds were all comfy and the bathroom and en-suite very clean and in good condition.
I had to ring Lake District Lodge Holidays customer service one day to ask their advice on my elderly mum who had injured her knee, I was very impressed with their knowledgeable response, pointing us in the direction of the nearest health centre where she was seen by a doctor later that morning. They also came to replace the parasol which was broken, within about an hour of me letting them know. Top marks there.
The White Cross Bay Park (run by Park Dean resorts) itself is very pretty, but I would avoid eating at the Club House as we did on our first night, it was like a giant kid's party with the kids DJ's voice blaring out on speakers throughout the restaurant making it too loud to talk. There was no getting away from it and the waitress said it would be going on all evening. It even put us off ever using the pool as this was next door with diners able to see into the pool area. Food was slow coming and not great too, but there are a range of great places to eat in nearby Bowness on Windermere, which is well worth a visit. We found this to be much nicer than Ambleside which is further away.
So, as relaxing base to explore the lakes, with great accommodation, fantastic views and great customer service on hand from the Lake District Lodge Holidays team, this is definitely one to recommend.
What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The hot tub and views
What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Visit to Bowness on Windermere for food, shopping, and where several boat rides launch from. Brockhole is great for the kids (and big kids), but you need to be able-bodied and reasonably fit to get about and make the most of it.
