Tracey “Enjoyable stay.”
Very well equipped. Main bedroom mattress uncomfortable and creaky. Cleanliness of the lodge needs improvement i.e cobwebs around windows inside and out. Main bathroom needed cleaning before use. Washing machine front dusty. Fridge could've been cleaner. Lovely location being so close to the lake.

Phil “Good lodge in a nice location of a well maintained park.”
Park's location is good for bus travel and bus services are better than many places. Owners emphasise treating the lodge like you would your home and this is an attitude we always adopt. They request hoovering on departure and was happy to oblige. However the cleanliness of the lodge didn't match our home or our expectations. We understand dog friendly and walker premises can become tired quicker than properties not offering these services and we are grateful for such premises but the lodge looks like it hasn't had a seriously good clean for a while. Cobwebs on windowsills and worktop along with built up grease and dust on microwave betray quite a neglect. Leather settees not particularly practical either. We didn't let all this detract from a good sized and well located property and wouldn't put anyone off staying here but we will say that in such a competitive market it wouldn't surprise us to find equally attractive properties with better cleanliness are readily available. All in all then a good stay which with a little raise in standards of cleanliness could be even better
- Phil, June 2024Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you felt let down by the cleanliness of the property. We would like to add that had we been aware during your stay, we would have been able to resolve. The lodge is cleaned to high standards on each booking. Louise “The lodge itself was lovely, had everything you could need for a weeks stay, only disappointment was the TV which didn't even have freeview channels and, as the wifi was limited, you couldn't connect a fire stick or chrome cast.”
This may sound trivial but when you are in when the weather is bad this can be frustrating! We left on thursday afternoon rather than spending another evening with limited TV. We did buy a couple of DVDs and left for the next guests. I had read reviews about the beds, but honestly didn't think this was an issue. Also, there were dirty knives, forks and utensils, maybe just check prior to the new guests arriving. On the whole, really lovely lodge with perfect positioning, just little niggles.
- Louise, May 2024Lucy “We have just returned from a lovely week staying in Cottontail.”
Lodge was lovely although the television kept losing signal at the same time every night. Beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed apart from the partial lake view. Would definitely return, exceptional value for .
- Lucy, May 2024Christine “We enjoyed our stay at Cottontail Lodge.”
The lodge was clean, cosy and had everything we needed. The only complaint we had was that the mattress on the double bed was a bit uncomfortable. One of us slept in a single bed (which was fine) and the other slept in the double with the help of a piece of foam which we bought at the market and put on top of the mattress which helped greatly. Apart from that everything was fine.
- Christine, March 2024Sharran “The property was like home from home literally everything you needed, lovely and clean.”
On a really good holiday site, will definitely be going back there again for our walking holiday.
- Sharran, February 2024Elizabeth “We just came home from staying in your beautiful lodge everything was perfect ...”

- Elizabeth, November 2023Julie “This was our second visit to Cottontail.”
Gorgeous lodge. Very well equipped with everything you could need. A really lovely home from home. Would have given 5* but we found the main bed very uncomfortable- which I appreciate is personal choice. Other than that everything was wonderful.
- Julie, October 2023Rosalyn “The lodge is a lovely place and very well equipped it had everything you could ...”
The lodge is a lovely place and very well equipped it had everything you could possibly need, and it was in a perfect spot very quiet, close to the lake and not far from the clubhouse, would definitely recommend it
- Rosalyn, October 2023Alan “A nice lodge but the decking is sinking in places causing a tripping hazard”

Angela “The property was clean and tidy, everything was provided, The only negative, I found the main bed very uncomfortable and couldn't sleep in it, I slept in the single bed which was very very comfortable.”
I would definitely go back to this property, I give it a 9 out of 10

Julie “Cottontail lodge is absolutely beautiful, very comfortable and had everything we needed for a fantastic holiday.”
It is very well situated within White Moss park. We loved it, would definitely recommend it and would most definitely return to this lodge.
- Julie, August 2023Lynn “Vacuum cleaner is wiffy and not really serviceable.”
Apart from that excellent would recommend the lodge to friends and relatives.
- Lynn, June 2023Thank you for your feedback. Following your comments, we have replaced the hoover. It is wonderful to hear you would recommend the lodge and we do hope you will visit again. Property Owner
Maxine “This property had not been cleaned, had quite a few things that needed repairing was not like the photos and had a five-tick rating when it would struggle to get 3.”
Definitely not worth the money! Even if it had been cheaper, I would still expect a basic level of cleanliness which this categorically did not have. Sykes Cottages showed no concern or empathy when I complained and I would strongly recommend anyone not to take any notice of Sykes ratings.
- Maxine, June 2023Thank you very much for your comments and for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. Customer feedback is very important to help us continually improve our standards. . We are very sorry to hear your comments regarding cleanliness, though I note that our offer to rectify this issue was declined. Kelvin “Beautiful lodge with everything you need and fantastic location we had a fantastic time but, the mattress on the bed was so uncomfortable I still have a bad back now it was like a concrete slab.”
Also the large sofa was very uncomfortable and has seen better days. Apart from those points it is a fantastic place and if those issues were addressed it would be faultless.
- Kelvin, November 2022Thank you for your kind feedback, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Cottontail. We find that mattresses and sofas are down to personal preference but we will ask our Maintenance team look into the points that you have raised. We hope to welcome you back to the Lake District again. Property Owner
Andrew “3rd time staying at Whitecross Bay, but first time staying at Cottontail Lodge.”
I loved how spacious the lodge was, particularly the bedrooms. Great location too. This lodge is a credit to the owners, and I would highly recommend staying here.
- Andrew, October 2022Thank you for your very kind feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Cottontail. We hop to welcome you back again. Property Owner
Julie “Beautiful lodge in a beautiful location.”
Spacious and well appointed. Kitchen full of everything you would need and the closet in the hall full of DVDs was great on rainy days. My one tiny criticism was we found the main bed very firm but that’s just a preference of ours. Overall lovely holiday and will be returning. My little dog had a wonderful time too. On site pub/restaurant was very good too. However the lodge is located so near Windermere and Bowness it was easy to get out and about to eat at some of the fab local restaurants.
- Julie, October 2022Matthew “The loge wa a bit dated sofas spring broken the cutlery was a bit naff but apart from that the loge was ok”
- Matthew, July 2022Thank you for taking the time to provide valued feedback. We will investigate the points raised and thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We do hope that you will visit the area again and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner
Pat “The property was very clean.”
,pHowever the freezer was clogged with ice. However I understand that this is difficult to de ice if there is continuous stream of guests. Also the mop and bucket was left in the cupboard and began to smell, so I left it outside. There is a need for a brush to sweep the decking. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding of good quality. All in all a lovely place to stay with just a few tweaks.
- Pat, June 2022Thank you for review and your constructive feedback which is very helpful. We will arrange for these issues to be addressed. We are pleased to hear you had a wonderful stay and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

Paul “Loved the lodge, really comfortable”
- Paul, April 2022Jemma “Great location, very close to lake and shop, pool etc.”
Good size lodge with lots of decking space too. Would definitely recommend and will hopefully be back next year.
- Jemma, April 2022Thank you for your lovely review and we do hope you will return and have another fantastic stay with us. Property Owner
Christine “Beautiful lodge in superb location - unfortunately it was let down by the state of the inside of the oven, the racks were ok but the top was bubbled with the result of past foodstuffs.”
The hob pan supports also the result of accumulated lack of cleaning - tried to clean them but they needed much more prolonged cleaning. The freezer had a half eaten open tub of ice cream complete with chocolate flake left in, so obviously hadn’t been checked. It’s a shame for the owners of such a lovely lodge to have people and / or cleaning crew abuse it. Noticed on arrival the cupboard over the cooker was cracked.
- Christine, March 2022Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry to hear of the cleaning issues you encountered, this will be raised with the cleaner directly and make sure this does not happen again. We will check the kitchen cupboard. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused. We do hope you will return for another welcomed break. Property Owner
Audrey “Lovely lodge with excellent location at a decent price, couldn’t work out how to put the fire on and outside porch light wasn’t working , both resolved within one hour or reporting it.”
Beds really comfy, loads off added extras, air freshener, toilet cleaner, sanitiser. Salt, coffee, sauces, welcome pack for dog with chew and ball. Lovely decking and nice new table and chairs which were lovely and comfortable. Loads of dvds a couple of games and CD player , Would have no hesitation in recommending this lodge again, we visit a few times a year and would definitely return.
- Audrey, March 2022Thank you for your valued feedback. We are pleased that you reported these matters to us and our maintenance team resolved this quickly and efficiently for you. We look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner
Sandra “We had such a brilliant stay at Cottontail Lodge.”
It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Lodge was in a lovely position and very close to the Lake which was nice. If we had one small gripe, it would be the WiFi. Obviously not everyone bothers about this but would’ve been an added bonus. A perfect week away for our first family holiday. Thank you!
- Sandra, February 2022Thank you for your valued feedback and we are please that you enjoyed your first family holiday. The WiFi is provided by the park and so is outside of our control. We do apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. We look forward to welcoming you back to The English Lake District. Property Owner
Francesca “Really great place to stay Felt as though it's a home from home”
- Francesca, October 2021Angela “Fantastic location.”
Lovely site lodge was spacious and clean well located.
- Angela, October 2021Barbara “The Lodge was Perfect and Fully Equipped 0ne of the best we have Stopped in and we have Stopped in Many Over the Years the Only Disadvantage was the Unequal Slate Steps from the Parking Area at the side of the Lodge Up to Raised Lodge Area the Steps from the Raised Area on to the lodge Decking Had Hand Rails Each Side making Ease of Access to the Lodge we Feel that the Small Note Beinging the Slate Steeps Condition is Not Sufficient over the Unequal Slate Steeps when Wet or Dry and Could Become a Legal Problem for the Owner , A Shame after the Owner Has take Trouble to Equip the Lodge with Everything' for Everybody.”
- Barbara, October 2021Thank you for your valued feedback and we are glad that you enjoyed staying in the lodge. We have passed the issue of the steps to our Maintenance Manager to look into this. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. We look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner
Jennifer “The sofa springs have gone it’s very uncomfortable.”
The blinds were broken and are not dog friendly as the have the attached beading. The single bedroom smelt of damp but overall good facilities in a great location for a reasonable price all be it that they have been raised somewhat it was the best priced rental v facilities in that location. I would stay again if they had a dedicated dog field like limefitt where you could let your dogs off the lead to play.
- Jennifer, September 2021Thank you for your feedback. We note all you have said and will look into your points further. The blinds are in the process of being replaced, we are waiting on the manufacture to finish making them. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. We do hope you will return and enjoy another stay with us. Property Owner
Andrew “We had a great stay at Cottontail Lodge the lodge itself was perfect dispite a few maintenance issues(blinds/kitchen cabinet).”
The only negative was the need for a handrail to stone steps which were awkward for my wife.
- Andrew, September 2021Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for bringing a few things to our attention. The blinds will be fixed shortly, we are currently waiting on the manufacture to finish making them. We note your comment for improvement and this has been sent to the owner to consider. We very much hope you will return for another wonderful stay. Property Owner
Julie “My stay was very good at this resort the site was very clean and staff were very ...”
My stay was very good at this resort the site was very clean and staff were very helpful was a few problems with the lodge on arrival which I went and let the office now about but this was just due to other people using the lodge which had damaged a few things and not down to owners etc but other than that we all had a very nice stay and wouldn’t stop me using this lodge again however the site entrance is very poor especially on leaving the site on days out especially if your turning right you could be sitting waiting to get out a long time with the flow of traffic and needs to have some sort of traffic lights to help on leaving the site would be helpful and a few more lights around the park would be helpful as in some places it’s not very well lit for older and young children walking but other than that the site is in good place for visiting other parts of the lake
- Julie, September 2021Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to hear of how much you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry you found it difficult leaving the site, it is a very busy road and it does take time turning right. That said, we do hope it did not impact your stay and that you will return. Helen “Nice clean well presented in good location.”
Not having decent secure wi-go was let down, tv channels very basic, sink in en suite constantly emptying due to poor seal. One of the blinds was broken in lounge, bed sheet didn’t fit, too small. Needs some TLC
- Helen, May 2021Alan “Very nice accommodation, just a shame we didn’t use the lovely large decking area due to weather.”

- Miss Lesley-ann Robinson, Nov 2019Mr Alexander Gage “We had a fantastic stay in Cottontail Lodge.”
Extremely comfortable lodge - best we've stayed in (and we've stayed in quite a few). We didn't have too much opportunity to sit out on the deck because it was a bit chilly, but would be a great place to soak up the rays in the summer. All our dealings with Lake District Lodge Holidays were excellent and their communication from initial booking to post-trip was second to none. Thank you! What did you enjoy most about your stay? - Mr William Courcha, Aug 2019Mr Michael Mair “We stayed at this lodge at the end of June for 11 nights.”
It was a lovely place to stay everything you needed was there. Very clean and tidy and really nicely furnished. If I had one negative point it would be the condition of the deck it is in a need for a little repair but it is a great outdoor space and having the gate was great for our dog. Sometimes dog-friendly accommodation can be a bit poor but Cotton tail lodge is lovely. We would definitely return to this lodge for another holiday. We enjoyed staying at cottontails, it had all we needed , only a couple of small issues ,I.e. frozen up freezer (noises at times) , although lots of kitchen cupboard s , the one for food had little room as paint pot bits and pieces in it , but this did not stop us from a very relaxing and comfortable stay at cottontails, also dog friendly which was a bonus, our dog loved his holiday, would definitely recommend cottontails. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The scenery, lots of places to visit and things to do What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? For us it was sitting by the lake at Fell Foot with a picnic watching the world go by

It was a home away from home for us. We have a young toddler and there as everything we needed to be able to relax and enjoy our stay. The location is just beautiful and there was so much space. Mr Simon Willcocks “Overall a great stay.”
Having the gate for the balcony area around the lodge was perfect for allowing our 2-year old to have a toddle around safely. The lodge itself looked really good, and the living/kitchen room open plan was really nice and spacious. Somehow kept the lighting in the room really bright, meaning even at around 10 at night, it was still fairly bright in there, no need to switch on the lights. The bathroom and shower was good, and the washing machine was handy, kitchen well stocked. Think the only negative for me was the bed, but it wasn't like I'd booked for the comfort side of things! The location of it was great, being able to get around easily either with the ferries, the bus route, or driving around to the different areas. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The relaxing side of things, open-plan comfort and the balcony area What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Little bit of a drive, but Lowther Castle was great, especiall for children, very good adventure playground, lots of open space.

Cottontail lodge is very well situated within the park and we found it an excellent base from which to explore Windermere and the surrounding area. We loved the shower in the es suite but had one problem. Not the fault of the lodge. My wife is disabled and couldn't use the shower as she can't stand in showers. Thanks to the help from the staff at Whitecross Baywho solved the problem for us. I tried to buy a plastic stool but could buy one anywhere. I went to reception and mentioned it there , a young lifeguard was on duty and said he would see what he could do. Later on the gentleman who was on night duty brought us a plastic chair she was able to use in the shower. Many thanks to him. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Everything. The beautiful Lake District. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? A trip to Langdale Pass. We love it there.
