Places to Visit from these Lake District Lodges
When you book one of these Lake District lodges, you’ll be perfectly placed to explore some of the region’s best-loved towns, villages and attractions.
Just a 15-minute drive from many lodges in the southern Lakes, Bowness-on-Windermere is one of the region’s most popular destinations. Found next to England's largest lake, this bustling town is ideal for lakeside walks, boat trips and browsing local independent shops.
Families will love a visit to The World of Beatrix Potter, while those after a bite to eat can take their pick from cosy pubs, tearooms and fine dining restaurants. If you have the time, be sure sure not to miss a chance to hop on a lake cruise - the perfect way to take in the beautiful scenery!
Further north lies the vibrant market town of Keswick. A firm favourite for walkers, with routes up Catbells, Walla Crag, Latrigg Fell and around Derwentwater all close by.
The town itself is full of character and charm, offering a great mix of independent shops, traditional pubs and the popular Keswick Market, held twice a week in Market Square.
For things to do, consider visiting the Keswick Museum or a take tour of the nearby Castlerigg Stone Circle. On the other hand, families and groups of friends will love the quirky Puzzling Place. Whatever your interests, Keswick has plenty to offer during a day trip.
Roughly a 25-minute drive from the central Lakes, Ambleside is a charming spot nestled at the head of Lake Windermere. Surrounded by some of the most scenic walking trails in the area, it's a great place to lace up your boots and head into the hills.
In the heart of the town, you'll find a host of independent bookshops, galleries and cafés that line the town’s narrow streets. Within walking distance from you town, you'll also find the dramatic Stock Ghyll Force waterfall and, in the centre of the town, the historic Bridge House, known for being one of the most photographed buildings in the Lakes.
